Dadson – Mining Engineer and Founder, Zegatron Engineering Solutions Ltd.

Dadson completed his Bachelor of Science in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering in 2016, majoring in the Processing option due to his strong passion for mineral value addition.

After graduation, while seeking job opportunities, he was invited by one of his former lecturers to join a research project focused on designing an improved ball mill for artisanal and small-scale gold miners. The project involved the full cycle of design, fabrication, and testing of the mill. It was during this experience that Dadson discovered and nurtured a deep interest in machine design and fabrication.

By the time the ball mill fabrication project was complete, Dadson had significantly developed his mechanical skills, including CAD design using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor, machine design, fabrication techniques, and the practical application of mechanical principles in the mining industry.

In 2019, driven by his growing passion for fabrication, Dadson founded his own steel fabrication workshop, specializing in the manufacture of mining machinery. His first major project involved the design, fabrication, and installation of a manganese screening plant, which included conveyor belts, a vibrating feeder, and a vibrating screen. The project was successfully delivered and marked the beginning of his journey as an entrepreneur in mining equipment fabrication.

Today, Dadson operates his workshop in Thika under his company, Zegatron Engineering Solutions Ltd. The company focuses on the fabrication of a wide range of mining equipment, including conveyor belts, hammer mills, vibrating feeders and screens, ball mills, trommel scrubbers, and hoppers. The workshop also undertakes steel structure projects such as elevated tank towers and roofing frameworks.

Currently, Zegatron Engineering Solutions Ltd is working on a major project contracted by Marula Mining Plc, aimed at optimizing and modifying a newly acquired manganese processing plant in Kilifi County. The project involves material classification and washing, and Dadson’s team has successfully upgraded most of the equipment to ensure optimal plant performance. The project is over 90% complete and is expected to be commissioned by mid-May 2025
