Code of Conduct

At the Mining Engineers Society of Kenya (MESK), we are committed to fostering a professional, inclusive, and ethical environment for all our members, stakeholders, and visitors. Our Code of Conduct outlines the principles and standards that guide our operations and interactions within the mining industry and the broader community.

1. Professional Integrity

  • Members shall uphold honesty, fairness, and integrity in all professional activities.

  • Misrepresentation of qualifications, experience, or work shall not be tolerated.

  • Confidentiality must be maintained regarding sensitive information obtained through professional roles.

2. Ethical Practices

  • Members must adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and standards governing the mining and engineering professions.

  • Unethical behavior such as corruption, bribery, or exploitation is strictly prohibited.

  • Sustainable and environmentally responsible mining practices are expected from all members.

3. Respect and Inclusion

  • MESK promotes a culture of mutual respect, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, gender, religion, disability, or any other characteristic is unacceptable.

  • Members are expected to collaborate and engage respectfully in all society-related activities.

4. Safety and Welfare

  • Safety in the workplace and field operations is paramount. Members must follow all health and safety regulations.

  • It is the duty of all members to report unsafe practices or conditions to the relevant authorities.

5. Accountability

  • Members are responsible for their actions and decisions.

  • Any violation of this Code may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or revocation of membership.

6. Use of MESK Platforms

  • MESK’s digital and physical platforms must be used for constructive and professional purposes.

  • Misuse of MESK forums, events, or communication channels for personal gain, defamation, or dissemination of false information is prohibited.

7. Reporting Violations

  • Concerns or violations of the Code of Conduct can be reported confidentially to the MESK Secretariat.
